Whose Bar Food Reigns Supreme? Part Two: The Nominee List

In my last blog, I talked about a simple contest in whose bar food will reign supreme? However, I also said that there will be different changes throughout this process before we begin the contest itself. I had to make many changes with my thoughts over the past few weeks.

First, I thought about all of the bars in Aggieville in which they serve food. Come to realization, not every bar in Aggieville sells food. However, due to the fact that there are plenty of restaurants, I also realized that a majority of these local establishments become a combination of both. During the day, it can be both a restaurant, and a bar. But by night, it becomes a whole new experience for the young party goers. So to switch things up, I added restaurants to the list. With that in mind, I decided to group them between “Bars”, and “Restaurants WITH Bars”.

Second, I had to research which restaurant was an actual “local” restaurant, and which restaurant is a knock off of an original. Unfortunately, there are restaurants in Aggieville that didn’t meet certain requirements.

Some either didn’t have a bar, some didn’t serve food, and of course, some of them were franchised.

Third, I wanted a public opinion, and in this case, it’s never too late to submit your opinions in.

Let’s begin with the local eateries within the Aggieville. Listed below are the nominees of Restaurants with Bars.

Wahoo Fire & Ice Grill: With a rating of 88% on Urbanspoon, this restaurant is known for a Hawaiian-American cuisine twist on Seafood.

Wabash Bar & Grill: Known best for their burgers. This establishment is a sit down restaurant with a nice cool atmosphere.  Not only does this place have a bar, but also an upper deck patio.

So Long Saloon: This establishment is voted to have the best burgers, however, this partnered establishment with Taco Lucha also offers a twist of Southwestern favorites.

Rusty’s Mexican: Formerly known as “Rusty’s Last Chance”, now, a renovated Mexican cantina restaurant serving all of your Traditional Mexican Favorites.

Kite’s Bar & Grill: Voted the best, and number one college bar. This restaurant serves your favorites from Burgers to country fried steaks. With TWO locations, can “The King” of Aggieville business get knocked off the pedestal?

Keltic Star: Serving up classic American dishes with a “Keltic-European” twist. This food features anything from lamb sliders to Irish egg rolls.

Aggie Station: This establishment takes a twist on classic American cuisine. This features American upgrades of classic dishes.

Taco Lucha: Another Mexican Restaurant that features your favorite simple dishes with a twist of something unique.

Dancing Ganesha: This newly opened, Eclectic Indian restaurant invites you to enjoy a contemporary, culinary cuisine of Indian food.

Coco Bolos: This is not your typical average Mexican food, but this establishment does offer a unique twist of gulf coast, and southern Tex-Mex cuisine.
Bar’s

Tubby’s Sports Bar: With an atmosphere of sports game, drinks, and parties, why not have food?  Offering your local bar favorites from wings to The Oklahoma Spooner.

Eighteen63: This sleek, urban, loft-style interior establishment offers an eclectic mix of music, friendly staff, and delicious food where it serves a mixture of bar food, and American classics.

Porter’s Bar & Deli: This college establishment serves basic American cuisine. From sliders to tacos, what else can you get ranging from 50 cents to $7.00?

So now that we already establish who the nominees are, I’m willing to do even more things with this contest. It would be great to ask Spike TV’s Jon Taffer and Food Network Star Guy Fieri to help assist (Wishful Thinking), but right now it has to start small. If you have ever ate at these establishments, I would like for you to comment or inbox me your favorite signature dishes. The Rules are not fully finalized, but I will be grading the place on the following

            -Public Reception
            -Food (THE MOST IMPORTANT)
            -Presentation
-Preparation (Seeing how things are cooked)
            -Atmosphere/Service

Hopefully after this year, the people will get to vote on a new winner annually at “The Taste of Aggieville”.  With that said, it will be fair that every restaurant will get a fair shot each year.

Well, everyone....More Details to come. Happy Eatings!!
